Lyrics and Video – “Here Comes That Rainbow Again” Book Is Free Through February

Here Comes That Rainbow Again

The scene was a small roadside cafe.
The waitress was sweeping the floor
Two truck drivers drinking their coffee
Two Okie kids by the door.

“How much are them candies?” they asked her.
“How much have you got?” she replied.
“We’ve only a penny between us.”
“Them’s two for a penny,” she lied.

And the daylight grew heavy with thunder
And the smell of the rain on the wind.
Ain’t it just like a human
Here comes that rainbow again.

One truck driver called to the waitress
After the kids went outside,
“Them candies ain’t two for a penny.”
“So what’s it to you,” she replied.

In silence they finished their coffee
Got up and nodded goodbye.
She called, “Hey, you left too much money!”
“So what’s it to you?” they replied.

And the daylight grew heavy with thunder
And the smell of the rain on the wind.
Ain’t it just like a human
Here comes that rainbow again.

Ain’t it just like a human
Here comes that rainbow again.

“Here Comes That Rainbow Again” Book Is Free Through February

February 17, 2018 By Eve Yearwood

I am truly heartbroken over the loss of the beautiful lives in Parkland, FL and am grieving at the anguish the survivors have to bear. I am a teacher and I know full well how kids suffer trauma and the lasting effects it can have on them. When kids suffer tragedy and despair, it’s hard for them to process as they lack coping skills. I first heard Kris Kristofferson’s song, “Here Comes That Rainbow Again” during an especially turbulent time in the high school where I was teaching. The lyrics instantly soothed my soul and brightened my spirit. The song is a deep, but simple parable steeped in history. With artwork to accompany the rhyming lyrics, I knew it would help children gain solace and comfort in a most meaningful way and reaffirm faith in humanity.

I formatted it digitally so it can be instantly download by anyone. It is free throughout the month of February 2018 and it can be downloaded here.

The song “Here Comes That Rainbow Again” is free to listen to anytime on YouTube.

I created this book because I want everyone in the world to have it and to experience the hope it offers especially during times like these. Please give it a listen and take a look. Teachers, it’s a wonderful lesson to teach and a necessary one especially now. I have taught the song and book for years and have seen the benefits of students feeling hopeful in processing and overcoming tragedy and trauma. It is very moving and it is for all ages.

It is free right now and easy to download and helps immensely to soothe souls. It provides hope to the most vulnerable and solace to the heartbroken. Please give it a try. Nothing to lose and a lot to gain. It is our way of offering something more concrete to help alleviate pain and brighten outlooks, along with the many thoughts and prayers.

Bless you all.

Very Sincerely,

Eve Yearwood
